AN EXPLOSION has rocked a Jewish school in Amsterdam in a “targeted attack” just days after a blast tore through a synagogue in the Netherlands.

The terrifying explosion caused limited damage to the building in the south of the Dutch capital in a “cowardly act of aggression”, the local mayor said.

Horror footage showed the shocking blast

The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Rights claimed responsibility for the attack – before posting a suspected clip of the explosion.

The chilling footage – being probed by local cops – showed a suspect placing the device and lighting it before it blew up.

Police confirmed there is CCTV footage of the suspect which is currently being investigated.

No injuries were reported – with emergency services quickly scrambling to the scene.

Femke Halseme, the city’s mayor, said: “This is a cowardly act of aggression against the Jewish community.

“Jewish people in Amsterdam are increasingly confronted with antisemitism. This is unacceptable.”

It comes after a spate of antisemitic attacks across Europe over the last few days.

The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Rights alleged it was behind four attacks over the last week.

Fires and explosions have been reported at synagogues in Rotterdam and in Liege, Belgium, in recent days.

Security at Jewish-linked institutions had been on high alert over the last week as a result of the recent wave.

In the US, a man tried to slaughter Jewish toddlers after ramming a vehicle packed with explosives into a Michigan synagogue before opening fire.

Ayman Ghazali, a Lebanese-born naturalised US citizen, is accused of carrying out the horror attack.

Ghazali allegedly rammed his car – loaded with mortar shells – into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Thursday in what the FBI is treating as a targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.

Inside the building were 140 preschool children at the temple’s early childhood centre – all of whom escaped unharmed.

Investigators say the Dearborn Heights man worked at a Mediterranean restaurant and lived quietly in the Detroit suburbs.
