Gardaí are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman whose body was found at a house in Ballincollig, Cork.

Gardaí said the result of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.

The woman has been named locally as Kelly Cremin, who was the mother of a three-year-old boy.

Her body was found at a house at Innismore Park in Ballincollig, a western suburb of the city at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Gardaí said nobody else was in the house at the time the woman’s body was discovered.

The area was sealed off and a local crime investigation team is conducting a forensic and technical examination at the house.

The coroner has been notified and a garda family liaison officer has been assigned to support the family.

The woman’s body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

A post-mortem examination on the woman’s body is expected to take place today.

No arrests have been made.

Local Sinn Féin councillor Joe Lynch said his thoughts “go out to the victim and their family”.

“This is a truly shocking incident, and it has caused major upset in what is a close, tight-knit community,” Cllr Lynch said.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Innishmore area of Ballincollig between 3pm and 5.30pm yesterday, and who may have camera footage (including home security and dash-cam footage) to provide it to them.
