A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and false imprisonment after a woman was reportedly punched and forced into a vehicle in Co Antrim last night.

The PSNI said a member of the public reported that a man had assaulted a woman, punched her in the head and face before forcing her into a black Nissan Quashqai around 10pm on Main Street in Portglenone.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of several offences including false imprisonment, common assault and taking a motor vehicle without authority.

He remains in police custody.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or those who have video footage to contact officers on 101 quoting reference 2 15/03/26.
