U.S. naval forces are taking up positions in the region as tensions escalate around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
The warships USS Bataan (LHD-5) and USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) are now deployed carrying the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, an elite force of roughly 2,500 U.S. Marines ready to respond rapidly to emerging threats.
The deployment signals Washington’s intent to protect global trade routes and U.S. interests as instability around the Gulf intensifies.
The move also demonstrates why the United States maintains one of the most powerful and rapidly deployable military forces in the world.
