An 88-year-old man has been swindled out of €1,600 by a bogus tradesman who claimed he would fix the elderly pensioner’s leaking roof. The crime may never have been uncovered were it not for the suspect’s own greed. The man, wearing a hi‑vis jacket, called to the older person’s home in the Douglas area of Cork.
