If the 1998 Oireachtas Committee recommendation on Constitutional change had been implemented there is no doubt Maria Steen would already be on the Ballot paper through popular nomination of 10,000 votes. There are 174 TDs and 60 Senators that have been voted in to serve the interests of their Constituients and to protect and defend the Principles of Democracy yet the vast majority of these public representatives have refused to nominate a popular candidate for the Presidential elections, against the will of the people of Ireland. What we are witnessing is the exposure of the RESTRICTIVE and UNDEMOCRATIC selection process, identified by the Oireachtas Committee over 27 years ago. The Irish people should have the right to directly elect their preferred candidate of choice as President of Ireland.

IRELAND, we need to be ready for what will happen in the next few short days regarding Presidential nominations. There is a high probability that the non-cartel candidates, Maria Steen and Nick Delahunty will be blocked from the ballot. Maria already has a block of nominations from the Dail and Senate, and I expect that number will rise but the Irish political cartel are doing everything in their power to stop her from getting the required 20 nominations. If that happens, make sure you are registered to vote. Make sure you are able to cast a ballot on the day of the election and be ready to ‘spoil’ your vote. That means writing anything you want on it but not casting a vote for any of the ‘curated’ candidates. I would suggest a ‘D’ for Democracy but whatever strikes you at the time. While such a vote won’t be counted for any of the candidates that will be on the ballot, it will be counted as a ‘Spoiled vote’. If there are enough spoiled votes it will send a very powerful message to the political cartel that their game is up. It will also send a message that will be heard around the world, a message that the Irish people have had it with being taken for granted
