Learner driver stopped for being on phone tests positive for cocaine

The driver was stopped by Gardai on the M1 in Dundalk after Gardai spotted the use of a mobile phone.

A roadside drug test was subsequently carried out and it was established that the driver was under the influence of cocaine.
A Garda spokesperson said: ‘Dundalk Roads Policing on patrol on the M1 observed the driver of this vehicle on mobile phone.
‘Driver tested positive for cocaine and was subsequently arrested. Driver was driving on a learner permit, unaccompanied and not displaying L-plates. Proceedings to follow.’
