There are 195 sovereign countries in our world but COVID-19 the virus has no regard for the fact that this is about countries and borders which, as the world now knows is recorded in real time, that this is totally irrelevant to a virus. In this instance the COVID-19 virus just wants to conquer its human foe and replicate and if this means mutations and variants, this is its modus operandi.
