Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch arrested in Spain in connection with Regency Hotel shooting


The arrest was made on foot of a European Arrest Warrant

Gerry Hutch, known as ‘The Monk’, has been arrested in Spain in connection with the Recency Hotel shooting in Dublin in 2016.
The arrest was made on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.
The 58-year-old crime lord had been on the run from police across the EU and from Kinahan cartel hitmen.
They want to charge him with the murder of David Byrne, 33, the Kinahan gangster shot dead in the infamous Regency Hotel bloodbath in North Dublin in February 2016.In May, the Irish Mirror revealed that The Monk was believed to have fled Europe with €30 million in cash and a clutch of forged passports.
Detectives believe he first went to ground in Romania when gardai secured a European Arrest Warrant for him.
