Mob boss Daniel Kinahan has been living the high life in sun kissed Dubai — but the net is closing in on him and his cronies who form a super drug cartel.
The gangster has been living the high life – and at no time was that more evident than when Dubliner Kinahan held a lavish wedding bash in the oil rich Middle Eastern city in May 2017, with some of the world’s most sinister drug barons and criminal gang leaders in attendance.
Among the guest list at Kinahan’s nuptials were Chilean druglord Ricardo ‘El Rico’ Vega, Dutch-Moroccan mobster Ridouan Taghi and Italian mafioso Raffaele Imperiale.
However, unknown to Kinahan and his close criminal cohorts, his wedding bash at the lavish seven-star Burj Al Arab in Dubai was being watched closely by international police investigators, who were piecing together the inner workings of their global drug smuggling operations.
Leaked documents later showed the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) had compiled a dossier on the wedding party and estimated the gangsters had together imported €23 billion worth of cocaine into Europe.
The DEA documents sent to Dutch police identified Imperiale, Taghi, Bosnian criminal Edin Gacanin, Richard ‘El Rico’ Vega and Daniel Kinahan as the heads of a super drug cartel.
