Taoiseach tells vigil men must ‘take a lead role’ to end violence against women
Taoiseach Michael Martin attended a vigil and lit a candle for murdered primary school teacher Ashling Murphy outside the Dail on Friday evening.
Speaking at the memorial event he said that Irish men must take “a lead role” in changing the culture of violence against women in society.
The Taoiseach also said that Ashling, who was a talented fiddle player, personified the very best traits of a “traditional Irish national school teacher”.
