It’s shameful. Irish employers are basically subsidised by their own workers who are receiving social welfare to compensate for low wages. This suits many people just fine (the workers and the employers) but the poor divils who have no kids have to work full-time with below subsistence wages, and are tecnically homeless (living with parents in middle-age / couch-surfing with friends) or forced to share accommodation with strangers.
